33-year-old Annette Morales-Rodriguez from Wisconsin couldn't have kids, but her boyfriend wanted a son badly. She felt like she had to do whatever it took to get him a baby boy so he wouldn't he leave her.
Rodriguez stalked and hunted for a woman who was far enough in her pregnancy to deliver immediately. She spent two weeks constantly driving by this non-profit organization that provides health care services to Hispanics. That's where she found 23-year-old Maritza Ramirez-Cruz.
Somehow, Rodriguez was able to get Cruz into her car by offering her a ride home. During that ride, Rodriguez told Cruz that she needed to stop by her house to change shoes. When they got there, Rodriguez invited her in to use the bathroom. When Cruz came out of the bathroom, Rodriguez hit Cruz in the head with a baseball bat and strangled her until she passed out. She then used an Exacto knife to cut the baby out of her stomach and hid the body in the basement.
Afterwards, Rodriguez rubbed the blood on her thighs so it looked like she had just given birth. She then called 911 and told the operator that she had just given birth and that the child wasn't responding. EMTs declared that the baby was dead.
The medical examiner's report said that the child had been removed from someone's womb by force, and that the mother's uterus and ovaries were still attached to the baby.
Rodriguez was taken in for a medical evaluation to see if she had recently given birth. At the hospital, Rodriguez - get this - went to the bathroom and scraped the inside of her vagina until she bled. Doctors determined that Rodriguez didn't recently give birth even though she tried to make it look as though she had.
Rodriguez confessed to the murder after hearing the examiner's report and said she saw a Cesarean being performed on the Discovery Channel, and tried to do the same.
Rodriguez was charged with murder and is being held without bond.
