It's like shark week all of a sudden. These incidents concerning people killing children are piling up in staggering increments. This time, a Sacramento mother was arrested after an investigation found that her baby, six-week-old Mirabelle Thao-Lo, likely died from burns suffered in a microwave oven. Microwave oven.
Stop and think about this for a minute. A woman puts a six-week-old baby in a microwave. 45 days old.
29-year-old Ka Yang initially claimed her daughter's death was caused by a seizure, but medical experts say the nature of the baby's injuries were severe, and that a microwave had to be the cause of the injuries. The only thing they couldn't figure out is how long she'd been in the microwave cooking. "She had some really deep tissue burns, "Sacramento County coroner's office said. "It was probably the worst case I've ever seen."
The murder actually happened in March, but it took a few months for police to find out the origin of the fourth-degree burns and death. Officer Laura Peck said it took so long to make an arrest because investigators had to look for other cases involving similar injuries. There were only three other cases: China Arnold of Dayton, Ohio microwaved her 28-day-old daughter, Paris Talley in 2005. Last month, she was sentenced to life with no parole.
I don't know if she's mentally challenged or not, but I hope she isn't set free because her lawyer decided to play the "mental card". If she legitimately has a problem, California should help her and I would not recommend military or jail.
With that being said, should mentally challenged people be allowed to have kids? Should doctors take away their reproductive parts as soon as they're old enough?
